Not seeing the inside of a car for three weeks was the deal of the "stadtradeln" campaign. But was it as simple as that?? Friday was day one after the action, and the woman from herzogenaurach took stock of the situation. The forster woman’s conclusion: "you feel great when you have conquered your inner pig dog". Thanks to the stadtradel campaign, however, it was easy for her, as she had no alternative.
"I’m not a fast cyclist", the 41-year-old explained. And her bike is also at least 17 years old. But nevertheless the mother of two children enjoyed the whole action.
In the past three weeks, heike grumann has cycled all the necessary distances. It wasn’t easy, especially on business trips. She had to stand in for a colleague in bubenreuth three times. Single distance: 22 kilometers. A lot of time is wasted because of a one-hour stopover. And how did the boss react? This was of course arranged with him, says grumann. But of course that can’t become a permanent fixture.
In any case, she has covered a total of 521 kilometers in 21 days on her wire-hoe. And a bike tour was not yet part of it.
The whole thing also had positive side effects. The increase in physical fitness is also clearly noticeable, reports the cyclist. Moreover, from a bicycle you are much closer to nature. Grumann: "many a detail would have been overlooked, many a meeting with forest owners and visitors would not have come about if I had driven by in my car".
The most problematic part was the transport, for example, for a school class tour, of a seat cushion, a drill stick, a clue and a bunch of small stuff. But with a little imagination and fastening material, this problem could also be solved, she reports.
And yet, for the forster woman, there is still a decisive main reason: "bicycling saves our climate. And that in turn is crucial for the forest."
