A high point of community life

Alexandra kemnitzer the annual village christmas is a highlight for the older generation of the community of weidhausen. This year again the hall of the hotel/gasthof "braunes ross" was very well filled provided. "We invited 770 people this year and more than 150 accepted our invitation", mayor markus monch explained at the beginning of the meeting. He thanked the team from the administration with anja ludwig, who had taken the lead in the preparation and organization of the event, as well as martina konig-friedrich, iris heinlein-jung and katja kristek for the implementation. Markus monch emphasized that he and the municipal council had again given a lot of thought to moving weidhausen forward in the year that has almost come to an end and to making it a strong town. What has been tackled and implemented together in the past twelve years is something to be proud of. Despite the debt reduction, a lot has been invested. "We can be proud of that", found the head of the community. A lot has also been done for the seniors "because all generations should feel at home in the lovable community".

A mosaic of this is also the village christmas, where all residents over 65 are invited to come together, experience entertaining hours and get into conversation. The mayor also asked for feedback on the existing offers for seniors as well as suggestions to the municipality in order to improve and get further impulses if necessary. "Your feedback on how the community should develop is important to us", he emphasized. His hope that the seniors present would be entertained in the best possible way by the doreihnacht was fulfilled. The resume of many visitors was: "it was already again, and the time has flown by." The best entertainment was provided by the girls and boys of the community day care center "oase" and the children from the afternoon care center with well-known christmas songs and poems, which brought back childhood memories for the seniors. The christmas story that pastor heidi reith brought with her was about peace.

Finally, karlheinz friedrich took the audience on a trip to the erzgebirge mountains with his slide show, before the trombone choir of weidhausen and children from hannah platsch’s music school brought the evening to a musical close with christmas carols.
