The attacked one was first badly injured and bleeding heavily and fled to a yard near the woman's apartment. According to the indictment, the attacker caught up with the victim and cut the new boyfriend's throat, and the man bled to death.

The couple had just returned from a bicycle tour. The breakdown service driver is said to have been unable to cope with the separation from his ex-girlfriend and to have tried again and again to win her back – without success. "I loved her so much", said the defendant, who read out a written statement. "I did not want to lose her." In front of the chamber he asked for forgiveness. "I'm sorry for the rest of my life."
