One life saver and three very good trainees are honored

Corina buttner, who heads the social services department at the city of schweinfurt – she was previously press spokeswoman for oberburg’s mayor gudrun grieser – came to an accident at the warehouse crossing near hammelburg in january 2012. In a collision, a young mother was trapped in her vehicle, which had been thrown into a field.

"I could not open the driver’s door. In the passenger seat was her child, who was unharmed and was brought to safety by other helpers", mrs. Buttner described the event. "I noticed that the woman was in a lot of pain. When black smoke was coming out of the car, I released the safety belt from the passenger side, and a truck driver pulled the seriously injured woman out of the vehicle together with me, despite the risk of causing her further damage. Waiting for the fire department to come to the rescue with scissors and spreader had taken too long, as flames were bursting out of the engine compartment."

That’s how they got the woman out of the car. Additional injuries have not occurred. The double fracture of the pelvis that the mother had suffered had healed in the meantime and she had not suffered any permanent damage.

Corinna buttner, who lives in oerlenbach, appealed: "always have gloves and fire extinguishers ready in the car!". A few days ago, your minister-president horst seehofer had presented the "heroes of everyday life" campaign the st.-christopherus lifesaver medal presented in munich. "You have served bravely and selflessly and have earned the respect of all of us," she said, said siegfried erhard.

He awarded three young citizens for their professional successes. Anika brand from ebenhausen completed her training as a funeral director at the company apfelbacher und fehr (bad kissingen) and at the technical college in munnerstadt, respectively, as chamber winner. "When i did an internship in this area at the age of 14, i knew i had found my dream job here. Some of my friends couldn’t understand, but my parents were right behind me", she says and plans to take the master’s degree next year. In her free time, she is involved in church youth work and the carnival club, where she thrills audiences every year with her sketches and guard performances.

Ramona pongratz completed her training as an industrial clerk at the hegler company as the second best in the chamber of industry and commerce of lower franconia. "In a rough field of competitors, this is an outstanding achievement", said mayor siegfried erhard. The oerlenbacher has meanwhile been taken on by the company hegler in the shipping department and is considering further qualification as an industrial specialist.

Julian wetzel from ebenhausen, who is involved in the fire department and the samaritan association in his spare time, was the best steel and concrete worker in his guild. Previously, he had already successfully completed an apprenticeship as a draftsman. "I wanted to work on construction sites after more theory in the office", he explained his step "this gives me an ideal basis for training as a technician. My training company, otto heil (eltingshausen), has been fully behind me from the very beginning", he praised.
