Industrial park gets fast network

Strullendorf industrial park gets a fast fiber-optic network. Stadtnetz bamberg invests over 150,000 euros in future-proof infrastructure that allows companies to enjoy internet speeds of up to 10 gigabits per second.

Fiber optic expansion in the industrial park between the railroad line and the main-danube canal, the B 505 and the "an der schleuse" road stadtnetz bamberg, a wholly owned subsidiary of stadtwerke bamberg, is laying the fiber optics to the buildings of the companies that have opted for the connection. By eliminating the need for copper cables, it will be possible to achieve almost infinite data transfer rates for the connected companies. The symmetrical bandwidths with which customers can upload and download at the same speed are 10 gigabits per second. This means that a data volume of 1.25 gigabytes can be transmitted within one second. Construction work to be completed in october.

For strullendorf's mayor, wolfgang desel (CSU), the fiber optic expansion is an important step for the industrial park and at the same time for strullendorf as a business location. The goal is "to future-proof all parts of the community and connect them to the high-speed internet". In a short time the school in amlingstadt will be connected.
